Teaching Style: All styles
Experience: Prue holds an L.T.C.L qualification
Prue has been a Music Specialist for most of her teaching career. She comes from a musical background, there was always singing in the home. All four of her siblings learned to play an instrument. In particular, Prue enjoys accompanying choral and instrumental music, and rehearses regularly with three North Shore choirs. Her last position in a school, teaching in class music full time, was at Kristin school in Albany, for fourteen years.
“I do miss the camaraderie with fellow teachers but appreciate getting to know the parents of my pupils. It is important to let the schools (and parents) know that they need to provide good quality pianos for their pupils. Too many schools are making do with keyboards and some of these are poor quality. Often a secondhand piano is a better choice and less expensive. I'm willing to help parents when they need guidance in choosing a good one.”
“I have three adult sons and two have a career in music, including composition....one in Rock bands and the other an organist, and teacher in King's school, Remuera. At this school every child learns to play an instrument....they are fortunate! One of my favourite schools was in Mangere where singing was so natural in the child's upbringing.”
A favourite quote is ' A friend knows the song in your heart and can sing it back when you have forgotten the words'
